Scotland ROUNDTABLE:  creating Proactive people strategies to enable success in changing times

The morning of June 24th, the day of the Brexit result, saw the start of potentially huge transformation for Scotland, the UK and Europe. This change, as yet, is undefined and the scale of change is dependent on a number of key political decisions still to be made. 

However, even though future changes will definitely impact business strategies in the long-term, as HR Leaders we must blend this knowledge with the continuing process of ensuring our organisations are healthy and have engaged, talented people ready to reach their full potential over this critical time.

Our Scotland Roundtable will open by looking at the elements that build people/engagement strategies for business success. We then open the discussion to two areas that are evolving in 2016 due to a changing world.

The Path from Annual Survey to 365 Dialogue:  The rise of social media, coupled with the desire to build more engaged and productive workforces, has brought “active employee listening” to the forefront of management attention. No longer is it enough to encourage employees to speak up about topics once a year. Organisations today need to more actively solicit, analyse and engage in ongoing conversations with past, present and even future employees.

Business professionals acknowledge that having access to a collective 'employee voice' will help leaders achieve diverse goals, including identifying innovations and improving productivity, but what are some of the key considerations for making this vision a reality?

The Urgency of having the right people in the right place at the right time:  As today’s business world is growing in complexity, industry experts agree that organisations with sophisticated talent identification, people development and workforce planning will have competitive advantage today and into the future. These organisations will be best placed to face the challenges and uncertainties of 2016.

The roundtable host, Anthony Ryland, has hands-on experience in Operations and Human Resources. Anthony will give background to the topics and is experienced in guiding conversations to deliver new insights for participants. 

Anthony is a Director at Tap'd Solutions. His career is split between senior leadership roles in Operations, Talent, L&D and HR in Retail, Electronics, Outsourcing and B2B sectors.
